An Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) curbs electrical distortion. It injects counter-currents to erase unwanted harmonics. Unlike passive filters, it reacts in real time to cleanse power. Non-linear loads, like VFDs and UPS, trigger these distortions.
Sensors detect harmonic noise. A controller calculates the correction. An inverter injects counter-currents. This cancels distortions instantly. The process keeps voltage and current smooth, protecting equipment and improving efficiency.
An AHF panel operates by:
Monitoring: Continuously measuring harmonic currents via current sensors.
Processing: Analyzing harmonic content using a digital controller.
Compensating: Generating inverse harmonic currents via an IGBT inverter and injecting them into the grid to cancel distortions.
